Pulling cues from the farmhouse concept, this house takes some features of a traditional home and fuses it with California Modern with minimalist architectural characteristics. At 4000 SF with a 2000 SF basement, this home features an L-shaped floor plan that opens up at entry. The kitchen and separate family room and living room all face the outdoors via large sliding doors. The floor plan as well as dramatic cathedral ceilings provides maximum access to the outdoors while not leaving each room too open. The roof deck and basement provided the opportunity for a dramatic 4-story “jewel-box” modern staircase which accesses more amenities such as billiards room, wine room, and media room. A raised wood deck with in-ground pool at the level of the main house extends the indoor-outdoor relationship and makes the first floor appear larger. The accessory guest house with bathroom and outdoor shower plays off the same exterior and interior attitude of the main house with access to the outdoors on two sides as well. Completed in 2019.
